Patch wants to help communities move beyond divisiveness and, instead, build a local discussion space together that elevates voices that are helpful, informative and kind.
So from Fall 2020 onward, community members who add value to the conversation on Patch are being awarded “Neighbor Points.”
You earn Neighbor Points when your neighbors thank you on Patch, and you lose them when your content gets repeatedly flagged. Reactions from neighbors with the most points will get weighed more heavily.
Here’s how Neighbor Points work:
✓ If a neighbor’s post or reply gets a Thank, they earn points.
✓ If someone’s content gets flagged, they lose points.
✓ Input from neighbors with higher points themselves will get weighed more heavily.
✓ Everyone’s points will be updated early each morning.
✓ Neighbors with higher points will get their content featured more prominently over time.
To see someone else’s Neighbor Points, just click their name at the top of their post or reply.
We encourage you to use this system to help build a culture of trust, accountability and kindness on Patch. Remember — this is your community. You have the power to make it awesome.
